SCSWF: 2017-2018 Letter of Response from President Tony Frank
June 25, 2018
TO: Dr. Ellen Fisher, Chair, Standing Committee on the Status of Women Faculty
FROM: President Tony Frank
RE: Standing Committee Recommendations
Thanks to the Standing Committee for its recommendations for the 2017-18 academic year. As we discussed, I am happy to accept them both. Below is my official confirmation:
Recommendation
The Committee recommends that the President charge a committee to develop, oversee, and implement inclusive and intersectional nomination processes for University awards and recognitions that would support greater gender equity via formal acknowledgement of valuable contributions to campus made by those from historically underrepresented groups, including women, transgender, non-binary, and allied individuals across campus.
Accepted, with responsibility assigned to the Vice President for Diversity.
Recommendation
On behalf of the Standing Committee on the Status of Women Faculty, it is recommended that the administration provide long-term support and operational resources (i.e., base salary, designated physical space, etc.), to sustain and further enrich the positive impact of CSU Writes on our scholarly campus community.
Accepted, with responsibility assigned to the Provost and Executive Vice President. In keeping with this recommendation, Provost Miranda and Dean Hanzlik of the Graduate School are increasing their support of CSU Writes by $25K-$30K in this coming budget year.
Thank you for a thoughtful set of recommendations.
C: Rick Miranda, Provost and Executive Vice President
Mary Ontiveros, Vice President for Diversity
