SUBJECT: President’s Commission on Women and Gender Equity
DATE: May 18, 1998
It is my pleasure to appoint you as a new member to the Commission on Women and Gender Equity. Thank you for your interest and willingness to serve the University community on this important issue. Enclosed is the charge for the Commission which was established in December 1996 as a result of a recommendation from the Task Force on the Status of Women.
Although relatively new, the Commission has worked diligently and accomplished a great deal over the past year and a half as documented in the enclosed report from the chair, Dr. Toni Zimmerman.
I look forward to meeting with the Commission on Tuesday May 19th and hope you will be able to join us, though I realize this may be difficult for some new student members. Details of the afternoon meeting are enclosed.
Thank you for your interest in serving on this vital commission and for your dedication to move our campus community toward greater inclusiveness and respect for all members. I look forward to working with you. Dr. Zimmerman will follow up with additional information about the Commission, including meetings schedules and other requirements.
