March 21, 2018
TO: President Tony Frank
FROM: Zinta Byrne on Behalf of the President’s Commission on Women and Gender Equity
SUBJECT: Budget Report of the President’s Commission on Women and Gender Equity
The Commission was given a budget of $50,000 for the 2017-2018 fiscal year. With great enthusiasm, the Commission used the funding to support the following programs, events, and initiatives – all of which the Commission members agreed aligned with the goal of the Commission to assist in making CSU the best place for women to work and learn.
CWGE 20th Anniversary Celebration – funded a campus wide celebration to recognize the Commissions 20th anniversary.
20th Anniversary Commemorative Art Piece – funded the creation of an art piece to commemorate the Commission’s 20th anniversary.
Student Engagement – funded a student assistant to do preliminary research on issues of interest to the Commission, help find information for the resource section of the Commission website, and research best practices and what other universities are doing to address issues of women and gender equity.
HERS (Higher Education Resource Services) Participation – fully funded the tuition and material expenses of two participants to the HERS Summer Institute.
AMI (Academic Management Institute) Participation – fully funded the tuition and travel expenses for four participants to the AMI conference, which provides professional development specifically for women.
Pending – we have budgeted for a few opportunities that have not yet occurred, including seeding our recommendations. These include support for the Women of Color Summit, seed money for launching the task force on sexuality education, and seed money to develop the paternal resource guide.
